The company is seeking four modifications to its approval, one of them to change the approved plant design to include final gold processing using cyanide on site.
Unity says the move will be safer and more cost-effective, and remove 2200 trips by trucks carrying gold-bearing rock from local roads every year.
Also proposed is changing the location on the site of the surface waste rock emplacement to make it simpler to construct the tailings storage facility, which would also reduce visual effects from the Majors Creek township.
A more direct access road to the tailings storage facility is proposed, as is amending the project completion date to reflect the delay in commencement of the project.
Unity’s managing director Andrew McIllwain said the EA would be reviewed by the company before it was submitted to the relevant government department, which would place it on public exhibition.
If there are more than 25 objections to the assessment, it will be referred to the Planning Assessment Commission for consideration.
