He will perform solo pieces by Bach, Ysaye and Paganini and be accompanied by pianist Emeritus Professor William (Bill) Hawkey, OBE, OAM, for works by Mozart and Mendelssohn.

The recital is the conclusion of his gap year from high school in preparation for tertiary auditions.
Born in the Eurobodalla, Rueben was 11 when he started playing violin, and his studies progressed quickly.
In his final school year he was named the 2013 HSC Distinguished Achiever for his Music 2 and Extension, awarded the Caltex Medal for all-round achievement and nominated for Encore.
Rueben’s current violin tutor is Vincent Edwards, who retired to Tathra after being head of Strings at the Australian National University in Canberra.
This year, Rueben performed with the Australian Youth Orchestra’s Alexander Orchestra for a series of live broadcasts on ABC Classic FM.
He was appointed co-concertmaster and principal viola of the Canberra Youth Orchestra, and as a pivotal member of the ANU Open School of Music Instrumental Chamber Music program, he performed at the Hungarian and Italian embassies in Canberra.
In November he was soloist at the Forrest National Chamber Orchestra’s performance of Mozart’s Violin Concerto in A Major.
Rueben won the prestigious Saint Cecilia Music Scholarship in 2012 and 2013, and was awarded an Australian Youth Orchestra scholarship and study grants from Moruya Rotary and NSW CWA.
This month, Rueben will travel to Germany on a Rotary New Generation exchange.
