Thieves broke into the shed between 9pm on Thursday and 8am on Friday.

Tuross Head Rural Fire Service brigade captain Terry Lines said thieves damaged a roller door to get into the shed. 

“At an estimate I would say the damage and stolen items will cost $4000 to replace,” he said. 

“It is terrible.”

Mr Lines said a TV, laptop, chainsaw, lawn-mower, projector, a high-pressure hose and small electric welder were stolen during the raid. 

“They will all need to be replaced,” he said. 

“The laptop has all the brigade’s training records.

“It is also where we receive all emails from fire control.”

Although the equipment stolen was not needed for operational purposes, Mr Lines said it was needed for training purposes. 

He said the brigade would need to fundraise to cover the stolen goods and replace the roller door. 

“We will be fundraising but if a grant comes up we may apply for it,” he said. 

“The most annoying thing is they stole things that aren’t covered by the Fire Service but things that belong to the community and have been paid for through fundraising.”
