WHEN considering where to draw the line for predicted sea-level rise, one might be advised to consider the fact that both Bega and Nowra townships are somewhat further above the high-water mark than most of Batemans Bay, just about all of Moruya and the north end of Narooma.

Relatively little of Bega and Nowra’s infrastructure will be threatened by either inundation or loss of market value.
So, would it not follow, that because towns in the Eurobodalla are more vulnerable, we would be well advised to adopt the highest level predicted?
And, remember what happened to New Orleans when it depended on engineering solutions to prevent flooding.
When the big one hit, the only place to be was on high ground.
