Christmas at the Races organisers - Batemans Bay, Moruya and Narooma Rotary Clubs and Moruya Jockey Club representatives – met the group’s chairman Rob Pollock at Moruya Hospital recently to check on the unit’s progress.
“We’re extremely pleased with the new unit, although a little frustrated completion of the unit has stalled while contracts with the subcontractors are finalised,” Mr Pollock said.
“Nothing is ever as simple as we would like.
“We’re very grateful to Member for Bega Andrew Constance, the NSW Government, Southern Area Health and everyone who has put into this.
“If it wasn’t for the strong community push for the new unit by people and organisations like Rotary, we would not have this new unit being constructed today under the new sub-acute rehabilitation unit at Moruya.”
Mr Pollock said Moruya Cancer Carers was close its target of $150,000.
“Christmas at the Races will help us meet our target and a bit more,” he said.
Bookings are still open for Christmas at the Races on December 21, which includes a three-course Christmas lunch at $35 a head.
Self-catering marquees are also available.
