BATEMANS Bay returned to the winners’ list and leapt in to second place of the Shoalhaven District Cricket Association table after cruising to victory against Ulladulla at Ulladulla Sports Park on Saturday.

Batemans Bay won the toss and elected to bat and started well, with openers Gav Ladmore and Paul Gallen pushing the target toward the century-mark.
Ladmore was doing the bulk of the scoring and hit 10 fours in his 68 before he was bowled by Steve Bond with Batemans Bay sitting on 1/97.
Gallen was joined by Sethi and the pair put on a 77-run stand for the second wicket before Gallen (69) was stumped by Dan Beasley off Aaron Wester.
Ryan Chamberlain joined Sethi in the middle with Batemans Bay sitting at 2/174.
Sethi was set and continued to pile on runs as he and Chamberlain took the total past 250.
On the final ball of the 45-over innings Sethi was bowled by Wes Holmes and the Bay finished at 3/266 with Sethi top-scoring on 70 and Chamberlain not out on 39.
Ulladulla needed to score at almost six runs an over to win and needed a start like Batemans Bay had, to put the pressure on the fielding side.
The Bay had other plans as opening bowler Andrew Malcolm bowled Grant Morris (9) and first-change Brad Hancock trapped Terry Dorrell (5) leg before wicket to have Ulladulla 2/22.
Luke Condon struck next as Dan Smith held a catch off Shane Isherwood’s bat to have Ulladulla at 3/48.
Wester and Beasley restored some order to Ulladulla’s innings but Batemans Bay broke a 36-run partnership with left-arm spinner David West taking his first of four wickets.
Nathan Bell added 20 but West struck again to have Ulladulla at 5/108.
Beasley (56 not out) hung around but struggled to find support as the left-arm spinner nabbed two more wickets which included a stumping to Corey McAlpin.
Hancock also chipped in with another to have the home side reeling at 8/143.
Ulladulla’s number 10 Scott King scored 36 late in the innings but it was all too late as the Bay bowled out the hosts for 202 from 44.4 overs.
The Bay’s quintet of bowlers performed as a unit and it reflected in their figures.
West finished with the game-best figures of 4/40 off nine overs and was supported well by Malcolm (2/35 from nine), Condon (2/44 from 8.4 overs), Hancock (2/40 from nine) and Stiller (0/32 from nine).
Next week Batemans Bay hosts the cellar-dwellers, Bomaderry, at Hanging Rock.
