A newborn baby boy has been found down a drain in Sydney's west after passing cyclists heard its cries.
The cyclists were riding along a bike track beside the M7 at Quakers HIll when they heard the baby from underneath a drain about 7.30am on Sunday, police said.
A group worked together to lift the concrete top off the drain and saw the baby lying about 2.5 metres down at the bottom.
Police arrived a short time later and removed the baby, who has no obvious signs of injury but has been taken to the Children's Hospital at Westmead for precautionary checks.

"The baby's probably not older than a couple of days," a police spokeswoman said.
It is not clear how long the child had been down the drain.
Anyone with any information is urged to contact police.
