The Batemans Bay Sewers, who are part of the Australian Sewing Guild, are busy making walking frame bags to be sold at The Glen Residential Care Centre’s fundraising fate on December 4. All proceeds will go to The Glen.
“It is our way of saying thank you for letting us have the venue,” spokeswoman Diann Price said.
The group meets to sew and share ideas at The Glen on the third Thursday of every month.
Ms Price said there had already been interest in the bags and expected them to be popular on the day.
“People have already told us they are keen to buy one,” she said.
“They will be handy for carrying things like glasses, books and purses, rather than carrying them in a handbag.”
The price has not been decided on yet.
“We’ve made 20 already and we are expecting to make at least 30 for the fete,” group member Helen Riedl said.
Ms Price said that the group picks a different charity every year, and is always looking for more people to get involved.
“Anybody who loves or would like to learn sewing is welcome,” she said.
“Our aim is sharing and furthering the art of sewing.”

Meanwhile, The Glen’s fundraising fete runs from 9.30am to 12pm on December 4 and it is $10 to set up a stall.
