IT was so nice to be pleasantly surprised by the efforts of Eurobodalla Council.

Who would have thought that our council would time its discreet recognition of the Red Cross in flower beds around the shire that have come into beautiful bloom during the week of Remembrance Day.
The red and white petunias in the shape of the cross can be clearly seen at the Moruya roundabout near council chambers.
Thank you, Peter Hodge, landscaper extraordinaire, and your team for saluting the Red Cross for its service to the nation and the Eurobodalla Shire over the past 100 years.
A century ago Bodalla residents started a Red Cross branch, which, sadly, like many branches in Australia, did not last.
However, a very strong Red Cross presence persists on the South Coast.
Volunteers diligently deliver services to the most vulnerable people and maintain training for emergencies.
Without the support of this caring community’s time, resources and donations, the everyday work of Red Cross would not be possible.
Long may it continue to serve for another 100 years.
