October 24, 2014: I was disappointed to read Brian Smith’s letter (Bay Post/Moruya Examiner, October 22) regarding two council staff asking Moruya Country Market stallholders to pull down their stalls on time so Granite Town could set up Eat Street on Saturday.

Market committee members were shown copies of emails that show Granite Town tried to communicate with the committee as far back as April, all of which were not responded to.
I also tried to call market committee members on the October long weekend to discuss the festival plans.
As a result of this, the festival committee asked the council staff to make sure we could use the area.
We would love to engage with the market committee well before the 2015 Granite Town and seek a meeting in the next month or so to ensure these two great community events can work closely together.
The council staff in question have been the backbone of our success this year and need a pat on the back.
I thank also all the government agencies which helped to make it a weekend to remember.
