The successful day was run by the Tigers’ 2015 first grade coach and NRL game development officer Matt Cross.
The footy club catered on the day so everyone had a win.
The Tigers have confirmed their coaching staff for the 2015 season with the first grade being controlled by Matt Cross and Grant Roberts, reserve grade by John Boller and Seth Merritt and the under 18s by Danny Whitter and Damien Scholtz.
“The coaching staff is well equipped with talent and experience and is looking forward to Group 16 in 2015,” Tigers’ president Bob Mitchell said.
The Group 16 AGM is at Bega on November 2 at 10am.
The club will send delegates to meet and greet the representatives of the seven other clubs.
“The executive of the group has made the Tigers very welcome and once the Group Seven and Country Rugby League has ratified the move it will become official,” Mitchell said.
The Sports and Leagues Club AGM has been changed due to a prior booking by the Camping and Caravan Expo to Sunday, November 16 at 10am.
The Tigers are well on the way to fielding three teams in its first season back in Group 16 with player response to the move being positive.
“The under 18s are still a few players short and will need some more local lads to step up to the challenge,” Mitchell said.
“There was a concern about the under 16s being able to step up to the 18s with the cross-group situation but we have been assured it can happen, but only if the 16s fulfil their commitments with the minor league on a Saturday.”
The club will be holding its first registration and free barbecue day on November 21 at 5.30pm at Mackay Park.
“All prospective players should attend as well as committee and supporters and any junior league representatives and players who wish to come along and join in a game of touch with the big boys will all be welcome,” Mitchell said.
The club has applied for a government grant to spruce up the secretary’s room and the wet canteen and it hopes to be able to install locking cupboards for all the separate users of the ground, and ensure the security of each user’s gear and equipment.
A commercial sink and extra storage should also ensure the wet canteen is more usable for all.
Preparations are also well under way for the Camping and Caravan Expo which will run from November 7 to 9.
The club will need all hands on deck for the weekend and all players and supporters who can assist should phone Bob Mitchell on 4471 8371 or Katrina Drew on 0400 271 441.
