The Cootamundra club’s visit was its second trip to the coast in two years and is becoming a growing tradition.
Cootamundra brought four junior teams, under 9s through to under 15s and the Dolphins matched the visitor’s teams for the weekend with a number of new players having their first opportunity to put on a Dolphins jersey.
Dolphin’s committee member and event co-ordinator Jon Brady said all the games were of a high standard and played with a great spirit.
“The Cootamundra club really enjoyed their weekend combining rugby with a coast visit,” Brady said.
“Some great relationships are being forged between our two clubs.”
Dolphins under 9s played a great game together for the first time as a team against an experienced Cootamundra and despite losing 10-40, the Dolphins have laid the foundation for a strong under 10s team.
The under 11s welcomed six new players to take on Cootamundra.
Both teams were grand final winners this season so it was destined to be a tough encounter.
Broulee won a hard fought victory in a tight, high quality defensive match 5-0.
The Dolphins’ under 13s assisted Cootamundra with player numbers for an entertaining and exciting game which featured some fantastic individual tries.
The Dolphins backs and forwards produced a polished performance to win 38-10.
Dolphins’ under 15s regathered for a resounding victory over a very strong Cootamundra team.
The forwards were dominant and the backline was slick, piling on quality tries in the 50-nil win.
