“The club has been busy during the off-season, re-signing many of its 2014 squad in preparation for the 2015 campaign,” Cornall said.
“It promises to be an exciting season for Group 16 with an expected nine first grade teams to be nominated with the reintroduction of Batemans Bay and the promotion of Candelo-Bemboka to first grade.”
He said that after a disappointing end to the season, the Sharks were looking forward to “rebuilding” the side with new coach Tim Weyman.
“Re-signing key players is the beginning of this process,” Cornall said.
“Senior players Jake Clarke, Caine Brierley, Aaron Brierley, Pat McMahon, Billy Halligan and Shane Colebrook have all committed to the club, and most of the 2014 playing roster have confirmed their resolve to go around again with the Sharks, so things are shaping up well.
“In particular, the re-signing of young talent such as Joel Pietsch, Dillon Johnston, Dean Scott, Jermaine Connolly and Hayden Murray provides youth and depth to the squad.”
Weyman, who will step into the top job for the first time, says he is enthusiastic about some of the young talent in the club.
“With young players such as Matt Jones, Aaron Russell, Hayden Murray, Jacob Zutt, Gavin Olive and more, all vying for first grade positions, it puts the pressure on some of the more experienced players to perform,” Weyman said.
The club is also looking for new players; contact Weyman on 0417 480 850 or Justin Zutt on 0427 742 945.
The Sharks’ annual general meeting will be held on October 28, at 6pm, at the Moruya Showground meeting room.
“Everybody is welcome to attend and to have their say,” club president Justin Zutt said.
“Everyone will have the opportunity to be part of the Sharks’ committee.
“New blood and new ideas are always welcome and the more help the better for all concerned.
“We are already planning a new playing strip and we should field four very competitive teams in 2015.
“All we need now is a strong committee so that the playing roster can get on with the job of proudly representing Moruya in Group 16.”
