The club was hoping for last-minute entries in super production, Aussie sixes, Ford fours, series production, second drivers and ladies’ divisions before registration closes on Sunday, October 26.
Meetings in October at Nowra and Goulburn were cancelled due to a lack of nominations, and Moruya Speedway secretary Kay Nash strongly encouraged drivers to signal their interest.
“We really need entries and the drivers have had their forms for quite some time,” Nash said.
“It’s tough for us because we don’t get the city drivers.”
Nash said Moruya Speedway drivers Todd Baxter, Grant Lavis, Johnny Ralph and Kiel Rosevear were making changes to their vehicles and some would miss the first weekend of the season.
“Todd is having 12 months off, Grant is fixing his car, Johnny sold his car and he’s getting a new one and Keil is building a new one,” she said.
Nash speculated that drivers were still preparing for the season and it was possible people were waiting for clearance.
“A lot of cars have to go away to be looked at,” she said.
“If there are issues then the drivers have to get them fixed before they can be signed and race.
“There are probably some still finishing off their cars; it’s hard to say.”
In past seasons legend cars and 1600s sedans -now called national fours – raced at Moruya but Nash confirmed they would not be there.
“I’m not quite sure about vintage or formula 500s,” Nash said.
Racing starts at 4pm for a twilight meeting with gates opening at 1.30pm.
Spectators are welcomed with canteen facilities available.
Daytime licenses will be offered and the club encourages people to volunteer at the canteen.
