There are two directors, a chief financial officer and two divisional managers.
All the positions have significant responsibility in the day-to-day operations of council and for a large number of employees.
The obvious short-sightedness of the proposal is the lack of recognition of the importance of the shire’s residents (ratepayers) in the overall structure of council.
Without residents there would be no need for a council and its associated bureaucracy.
The entire council structure really revolves around the residents who actually fund the organisation.
It’s really about time councillors and staff recognised who the owners of council really are, and responded accordingly.
Being talked to and not with is of some concern to the many people who are paying council’s staff, contractors and consultants.
Some attitudes need to change.
