Year 8 students Clare Feeney, Lilly McPherson and Jayden Williams, and Year 7s Sunnie Barker and Grace Maguire, who are also Batemans Bay Pony Club members, rode against more than 200 riders up to year 12 from public, private and agricultural schools across NSW.
Each Carroll College student rode in up to three phases and at the end of competition the four best individual scores from each school were tallied.
The girls competed against riders in the individual ridden phase, the working-hunter phase and the in-hand presentation phase, where the girls were judged on their ability to control, lead and jump.
The group had left the competition after a few long days of riding and were notified of the win when they returned home.
Maguire also backed up her team’s win by taking out the year 7 age champion trophy and the secondary school one flag race.
The team praised Sue Feeney for managing and organising the group while helping with technical aspects of riding.
