Police officers, their families and many Eurobodalla residents gathered at St Bernard’s Church at Batehaven on Monday to pay respect to fallen officers at the National Police Remembrance Day.

Far South Coast Local Area command Superintendent Peter O’Brien and Police chaplain Father John Armstrong were among those who spoke and wreaths were laid for the police officers who have did in the line of duty.
“We cannot and will not forget them,” Supt O’Brien said.
“Our fallen officers, you are in our thoughts and forever in our hearts.”
A candle was lit for every police officer lost in the line of duty over the past year, and their names read out.
The most recent was Gregory Janson on September 14.
Tributes were paid to the many officers who have died in the Far South Coast LAC area, which stretches from East Lynne to the Victorian border.
The first of these was 25-year-old Constable Miles O’Grady, who died after a shootout with bushrangers at Nerrigundah on April 9, 1866.
Another was Bega Constable Kenneth Coussens, who along with his wife and son was killed by a bomb in 1957.
