I WAS watching an episode of the very funny satire Utopia on the ABC on Wednesday night when déjà vu struck.

I had seen and heard it all before, emanating from Eurobodalla Shire Council!
At the series’ mythical Nation Building Authority, a collection of bumbling nitwits thinks up ideas on which to spend lots of public money.
All their plans of “building the nation” are quite ridiculous, unworkable and unwanted.
It reminded me of plans closer to home to build a deep-water marina, a super-dooper sports complex and, the latest idea, spare us, an equine centre (I hope it can compete with the one planned for Bawley Point).
And plenty of dough is spent on consultants by both entities!
Who’s pinching whose crazy ideas?
Is Rob Sitch attending Eurobodalla Shire Council meetings, or are our councillors sneaking onto the set of Utopia?
On a more serious parallel, among the NBA’s staff, there is only one intelligent person, a female.
