On Thursday, the community gathered to complete the last stage of the mural in the laneway opposite Flora Crescent.
Youth Connections students at Campbell Page marked their efforts by each painting a fish and adding their initials.
Coordinator Debbie Grant said the work celebrated indigenous culture and brought young and old together.
“Toddlers to grandparents have contributed to the wall,” Ms Grant said.
The mural has taken shape over five months and Ms Grant said she had wanted to capture “the bay in a snippet”.
“The first section was for youth week, the second section celebrated NAIDOC week and the final section expresses what people think when they think of the Bay,” she said.
“It has been really positive and we have involved the young people to grow their confidence.”
Caryl-Anne Phillips jumped at the chance to decorate the wall and said it was good to “get out and do something, rather than sit at home”.
“Everyone walking past, saying how great it looks, makes you feel good about yourself,” she said.
“It’s not just for us, it’s for everyone.
"Generations to come will see it.”
Rachael Cameron, who has followed the wall's progress from the beginning, was initially not convinced.
“When we started, I doubted we would make it to the other end of the lane,” she said.
“Watching it grow from the empty wall to now has been fun.
“It’s the town itself that has done it.
"Everyone has had input.
“Seeing it finished is a huge achievement.”
