After a bumper crop of entries, all shot in the Gardens, more than 200 photographs went on display yesterday.
Votes can be cast until October 10 and must be cast in person at the gallery in the Visitors Centre.
The competition is a joint effort by the Gardens, Friends of the Gardens’ volunteers and Eurobo-dalla Shire Council.
The winning photos will be announced on October 24 and published in the Gardens’ annual calendar.
This is the first year that the competition has been open to the public.
On display are beautiful photos of flowers, children holding hands and animals at ease in the landscape.
Friends member Ken Foster said the Gardens were a playground for photographers, and that that was obvious in the wide variety of pictures entered.
“The huge array of photographs is a true reflection of the diversity that exists within the Gardens,” Mr Foster said.
“It’s wonderful to see how many different people see the Gardens.”
The Gardens’ manager, Michael Anlezark, urged everyone to vote for the people’s choice prize.
“Make sure your favourite photograph makes the calendar,” Mr Anlezark said.
“Last year we had 500 copies and we sold out – people just loved it.
“They sent them overseas and even the mayor bought copies as gifts.
“This year we are printing more.”
The Gardens are open from Wednesday to Sunday, and every day during the school holidays between 9am and 4pm.
