The Sustainable Agriculture and Gardening Eurobodalla (SAGE) festival will be held in Moruya’s Riverside Park from November 7-9.
The trio will headline a line-up of cooking and gardening guests.
The festival tries to connect the community to Eurobodalla growers, sharing what they grow and how they grow it.
It also champions the region’s resurgent home-grown economy and its importance to the wider economy, society, environment and health.
Organiser Kate Raymond said the festival put the region on the “global sustainable food map”.
“People can learn how to grow better food, prepare food, or source locally grown food.
“The festival is a great way for the community to come together and celebrate our local seasonal harvest.”
She said it also revived an older tradition.
“Seasonal harvest festivals have a strong historical context and were once primary community celebrations that bought people together through the seasons,” she said.
“They are enjoying a resurgence globally.
“This year, we celebrate spring – a time of renewal and energy.
“Spring festivals are fun, a time for games, dancing and connecting after the quiet of the winter months.”
Last year’s winter celebration attracted 3,000 people to Riverside Park and 150 people to the Saturday evening Riverfeast.
“This year the committee is expecting a bigger crowd, as awareness about the importance of local food is growing,” Ms Raymond said.
“The festival will also build on the success of SAGE’s Farmers Market at Moruya, which was recently voted Australia’s Most Outstanding Farmers Market for 2014 by ABC Delicious. Magazine.
ABC’s Ian Campbell will host a Friday night panel discussion to “Chew the Fat” about sustainable food production.
On the Saturday, Costa will host a free community celebration with marquee talks, a variety of stalls, a food court, demonstrations, children’s games, music and dancing at Riverside Park.
“The Riverfeast will be in the marquee on the Saturday night, with a fun “stone-age” theme, and on Sunday, there will be an open day at the SAGE site on Queen Street.
Tickets for the Riverfeast will go on sale Tuesday 30th September at the SAGE Farmers Market. Admission to the Southeast Harvest festival on Saturday is free for everyone.
