The Milton Platypi might have been splattered by the Batemans Bay Boars in last Saturday’s South Coast Rugby grand final, but it wasn’t because their fans didn’t give a sheet.

A dozen banners with slogans such as “Platypi country” and “Go Playtypi” painted on them were put up between Milton and Batemans Bay in the lead-up to the big match.
One was put up near the “Welcome to the Eurobodalla Coast” sign on the Princes Highway, and another at the grand final venue of Hanging Rock.
The majority were put up in Milton-Ulladulla territory.
Platypi president Dave Searle said that a couple of the girls on the club’s committee and the coach’s wife were responsible.
“They wanted to give the guys a boost so they got some sheets from Vinnies and made the banners,” he said.
“They even put one up at Hanging Rock, but it got painted over.”
Mr Searle said the sheet artists live in the Milton-Ulladulla area but work at Tanner Salt Accountants in Batemans Bay, giving them plenty of opportunity to create a Platypi presence in the Eurobodalla.
For the record, the Boars triumphed 47-19.
“Hopefully we can use the banners again next year,” Mr Searle said.
