Betty Cowden said she and her husband were barbecuing dinner about 6.20pm on Sunday when he remarked how clear the night sky was.
“I was looking at the sky and suddenly I saw, it was just like falling star, but it just got bigger and bigger,” she said.
“It happened so quickly – I thought it looked like it was a plane or something but I knew it wasn’t a plane, because it looked like a star.
“It disappeared over the hill.”
Ms Cowden said she looked for signs of smoke, thinking if it was a plane, it might have crashed and started a fire.
She said she had not heard anybody else talking about the incident and contacted the Bay Post/Moruya Examiner curious to see if anybody else had noticed the object.
“I was hoping a couple of other people might have called about it,” she said.
“Somebody must have seen it - I don’t know if anybody else did.”
