It all started with theory lessons at the RFS Service Training Facility at Bimbimbie in the morning, and later on the action started.
Fixed wing bombers, an Airtruck and a Dromader, teamed up with two helicopters, repeatedly taking on fuel, fire retardant and gel at Moruya Airport, then water at the RFS Service Training Facility, before dumping it on simulated fires on a property at Mogo.
Dozens of firefighters from the Eurobodalla, Far South Coast, Shoalhaven and Queanbeyan were on the ground as the aircraft soaked their designated targets.
"The aim is to learn from a field command point of how to use helicopters and fixed wing aircraft as part of the firefighter's arsenal," Far South Coast RFS learning and development officer Andrew Gray said.
The event was organised and coordinated by Region South RFS regional mitigation and compliance officer Simon May and Sydney-based RFS aviation officer Sam Carruthers.
It is the first time such an event has been held in the Eurobodalla and it was deemed a success.
