The motion, put forward by Councillor Gabi Harding, was amended by Cr Neil Burnside to affect only the 2015 event, instead of lasting for the lifetime of the event licence, which ends in 2018.
The original motion read sought council to undertake a broad community consultation should any further amendments be applied for.
Cr Burnside changed this to say: “Should any further amendments regarding weaponry or ammunition be applied for in the lead up to the 2015 HuntFest, that consultation occur for a period of 28 days and a report be presented to council 49 days from the original advertisement of the amendment.”
Cr Harding was not pleased with the change but it was supported by the majority of councillors.
HuntFest organisers attended the meeting and said the move would not change anything for them.
