I AM incredulous that the RFS will again bring forward fire restrictions to September 1 rather than October 1.

This declaration will happen early even though the Eurobodalla in August received about 270mm on the coast and 180mm to 200mm in the hinterland.
You could not physically start a fire in the next month, even with a gallon of diesel, therefore why do we need restrictions early?
Such actions by the RFS treats the community with contempt and, in effect, reinforces its view that the community cannot be trusted to be responsible.
This action, along with the ability of RFS volunteers to inflict on-the-spot fines, will erode the support and trust that the community has had for this organisation.
It needs to wake up and cop a dose of reality for a change.
