THERE’S been a lot of fuss over HuntFest lately. Specifically, there’s a Notice of Motion before Eurobodalla Shire Council this week so that if HuntFest seeks to amend its licence it must go to public consultation.

Proponents of HuntFest are complaining about being ambushed. But here’s the thing, the organisers of HuntFest originally put in a licence application for some kind of ‘photography’ show in Narooma.
They then tried to sell firearms at the 2014 event.
This was not in their licence, and council blocked their ability to do so.
Huntfest’s organisers should have been honest in their initial licence application and stated that they wanted to run an arms fair in Narooma - but I suppose they knew it would be controversial and the application might not get through.
I am from a hunting family, but I understand why people feel nervous about it here, especially where many people live next to National Parks.
I am glad that there’s some open transparent discussion about HuntFest and their desire to sell guns.
