In the Sharkettes’ final-round clash before the Semis, the side lost 18-nil at home against Narooma.
The semi-final was following the same pattern - Moruya was down 10-nil with 15 minutes remaining.
The Sharkettes flipped a switch and two quick tries came from Nicole Cowdroy and Bree Moreton.
Rachael Moreton slotted one conversion and Moruya had levelled the score with three minutes remaining.
In an entertaining, end to end game, the officials were seconds away from calling for extra time when Cowdroy crossed for her second to keep her side alive in the finals.
The Sharkettes will face the loser of Bega and Cooma’s clash for a spot in the Group 16 league tag grand final.
Club secretary John Cornall admired the Sharkettes’ performance.
“The girls were deserving of their hard-fought win,” Cornall said.
The Moruya Sharks under 18s faced off against the highly fancied Cooma Stallions in the opening game of the Group 16 minor semi-finals on Sunday.
The young Sharks tried hard all day, but the Cooma boys proved to be too big and too strong, stampeding Moruya 44-10.
Casey Jackson and Jacob Hill scored a try each for Moruya and Jacob Zutt nailed a conversion.
Cornall said the club was looking forward to next year as the core of the squad remains.
“Most of the boys are eligible to play 18s again, as many of the squad are still playing under 16s,” Cornall said.
Coach Justin Zutt was disappointed after the game but pleased with the effort put in by the boys,
“The lads never stopped trying and I’m proud of their efforts this year,” Zutt said.
