Linda Smith from the group said it was an opportunity for prospective performers to have a go, or for those less inclined to perform to enjoy a good old fashioned sing-a-long.
“It’s an open mic but anyone can come along, they can either be part of the audience or they can get up and sing,” Linda said.
“If they want to do their own songs and try out some of their own music they can, it just gives them the opportunity to just have a go.
“We have a sound system, we have mics, we can have people backing them if they want, as long as they want the songs we know how to play.”
Linda said the group was also for anybody who wanted to come along and listen.
“We do everything from country, Beatles, Elvis Presley, and I’m classically trained and I can throw in a bit of that,” she said.
Linda said the group would be held every third Sunday of the month, except for this month, when it will be held this Sunday, August 24 with MC cowboy Brian Wallace.
“There is hot food available, there’s also tea and coffee and there is bar services,” she said.
“It’s free admission, the only thing you have to pay for is food and drink.”
The Mogo Gold Music Group will be held from 3pm to 7pm at the Original Gold Rush Colony.
