Seven local Quota International club winners came together in Batemans Bay to talk their way to the top.
The students were judged on a personal interview, a four-minute speech on a topic of their choice and an impromptu speech.
They were also judged on their leadership, personality, sporting interests, public speaking and citizenship qualities.
This year’s judges were Batemans Bay Quota International members Vere Gray, Deb Bailey and Bill Chilvers.
Chairwoman of Quota International Student of the Year final Jenny Tweedie said the students spoke about a range of topics.
“The topics ranged from making a difference, changing lives, volunteering, media and Syria,” Ms Tweedie said.
“The talent here is amazing; they have all spoken exceptionally well.”
Ms Tweedie believed the students in the final were people who would “make a difference in the community” no matter what role they were in.
“They are very talented and caring,” she said.
“It hasn’t been easy for the judges.”
The winner of this year’s region 14 Quota International student of the year scholarship was Helaina Narvaiza from Ingleburn, who spoke about women’s sizes.
The winner of each region receives a certificate and cheque for $300.
