A SUGGESTION before this (North and Perry Streets traffic lights) debacle goes ahead. Block off North Street at the entrance to the car park adjacent to KFC and also at the intersection of Perry Street.

All traffic heading north in Perry Street must turn right and traffic exiting the Woolies car park must also turn right. The blocked off area - approximately 50 metres - then becomes a pedestrian-only area.
People may have to readjust their driving habits, but the flow of traffic will not be impeded as it would be with the proposed lights. Trial it for three months, if it doesn’t work scrap it, but one thing is for sure lights are not the answer.
Moruya in peak holiday periods is proof enough of that, and the traffic situation in the Bay over Christmas is bad enough now, I hate to think what the lights will do to it.
Give it a go, what have you got to lose other than a few bruised councillors’ egos?
