Jason Sweet, of Cook Avenue, was charged with possessing a prohibited drug, and when he did not show up for his appearance was convicted in his absence. A warrant has since been issued for his arrest.

Police facts state Sweet was seen by patrolling police at Wolli Creek train station smoking a cigarette at 6.50pm on May 17.

They approached him and told him that it was illegal to be smoking on the platform and noticed he was nervous, fidgety and talking fast. A check revealed him to be already known to police due to a drug offence, and, mindful that the station was known as a drugs hotspot, told him he would be searched.

He told them he was carrying two used syringes, and when he took his shoes and socks off, a lolly wrapper fell out of his right sock.

It contained a foil paper in which police found six “rocks”, which turned out to be 0.13 grams of heroin.

When asked about them, Sweet said “I don’t know, it’s not mine”.

He was then interviewed by police but refused to sign the police notebook after the interview.

The case was first heard in Sutherland Court, and Sweet has an extensive criminal history in Sydney.
