The merged districts will be called the Southern Coast District, which held the inaugural district meeting in Bega in June.
District leader Anne Jackson said combining the two small districts into one large district would “enable more support”.
Although Ms Jackson said it was “early days”, she is looking forward to seeing the district develop.
“The district will meet every couple of months and will hold a Jamborette (a small Jamboree) in Moruya over the long weekend in October,” Ms Jackson said.
“We are looking forward to welcoming lots of scouts and are hoping their families will come and spend time in the area.”
Batemans Bay Scouts currently has 27 members and the new district, including leaders, has about 140.
“We are always very open to recruiting more scouts and leaders,” Ms Jackson said.
“We are now registered with Centrelink, so you can actually be a leader and use your training time with Centrelink.”
Batemans Bay Scouts meets once a week during the school term and, during the summer terms, spends a lot of time outdoors.
“A lot of our scouts will go out to Cullendulla Creek walkway camping, and to the fire brigade to learn skills and learn what community services are available,” Ms Jackson said.
“It gets the kids out and about and running.”
Ms Jackson said she wanted the community to know the Batemans Bay Scouts were “still out there doing scouting and our groups are still functioning”.
