EUROBODALLA Shire Council is inviting experienced local business owners and those in the equine industry to help develop a business plan for a regional equine facility at Moruya Racecourse.
It comes after a motion, put forward by councillor Liz Innes, was approved last week to develop the plan for the centre.
It followed an offer from Bega MP and Treasurer Andrew Constance to provide NSW Government funding if council develops a sound business case by October.
Mayor Lindsay Brown said according to the Far South Coast Equine Industry Scoping Report, released by Regional Development Australia in April 2013, the region has an opportunity to be recognised nationally and internationally as a centre of excellence for all equine services, including training and animal husbandry services, supplies and education.
“Council is calling for people who can bring local equine or business knowledge and expertise to the table and help make sure that Eurobodalla puts up a viable and sustainable business case for the facility,” he said.
“Together we can develop a business plan that will build a case for the NSW Government funding to provide a regional equine centre.”
To express an interest to be part of the Regional Equine Centre Advisory Committee, contact council’s divisional business development and events manager Andrew Greenway, on 4474 1351 or email
andrew.greenway@eurocoast.nsw.gov.au by 4.30pm Friday, August 8.
The selection criteria and terms of reference are now available on the Proposals page of council’s website at www.esc.nsw.gov.au
