The under 18s did not travel well, with only 11 players taking the field while Bega had a 13-man outfit on the park.
Bega exploited the extra numbers early and scored 18 points quickly before removing two players to have even numbers with Moruya.
The gallant Sharks showed their heart when the numbers were even and posted 10 points to Bega’s 14 in the second stanza.
Sharks’ secretary John Cornall said the boys have the ability to make their mark on the competition with two rounds remaining.
“It was another gutsy effort,” Cornall said.
“The hope is that they can field a full side and get the results they are capable of achieving as they run into the semi-finals.”
(Tries: Jacob Zutt 2 and Luc Hill 1. Goals: Zutt 1)
“The Sharkettes had a bye but will be back in action against Eden in what should be a great clash as these two teams fight for third spot,” Cornall said.
