The Blues kept the Seahawks goalless in the first term and the Bay remained in single figures until the fourth quarter.
Coach Mark Walker said the Blues overran his side in the midfield and got quick ball to the league’s leading goal kicker.
“They are the team to beat in our competition,” Walker said.
“They have very good players and we could not take it to them.
“In the end we were not good enough”
Walker said the club selected a “fairly strong team” but overuse of the ball and errors let the Seahawks down.
“We turned it over too many times and they ran it out the centre,” he said.
Walker praised the country side and believed they would go all the way this season.
“I don’t think any team will beat them in the finals,” he said.
The reserves play Goulburn, another strong country team, on Saturday and Walker said he side would “give it our best shot”.
“We won the last quarter when we played earlier in the season and we came away with a positive frame of mind,” he said.
“Last year the reserves won three games so to have seven is positive for the club.
“We’ll it take it week by week and hopefully some reserves can push for spots in the seniors.”
On Saturday, the reserves clash starts at 2.15pm while the seniors play ANU at noon at Hanging Rock.
