Gale-force winds wrecked the players' tent city and left Netball NSW considering cancelling the event.
But with more than 150 teams competing in 12 years, 13s, 14s and 15s, the championships went ahead.
Just over 2800 matches involving 306 teams representing 90 associations were played at Illawarra Netball Association (championship division and division two) and Campbelltown District Netball Association (division three and division four).
Shoalhaven Netball Association fielded four teams at the 2014 Netball NSW State Age Championships.
Their under 12 division two side finished in 12th place; both their under 14 and under 13 division two teams finished 17th; while their under 15 division three side finished in 18th position against some of the best netballing talent from across the state.
The Eurobodalla Netball Association’s four junior representative teams had mixed fortunes at the NSW State Age Championships in Campbelltown..
The under 12s at their first state age championships had the best result of the Eurobodalla girls managing to finish runners-up in division four.
The under 12s won 12 games, lost one and drew two, and finished four points behind state champions Nambucca Valley.
The under 13s also played in division four and were eighth overall with 10 wins, six losses and two draws.
The under 14s and 15s played in division three and had a “fantastic time” despite mixed results.
The under 14s finished 13th and managed six wins and a “couple of close losses but came away feeling good”.
The under 15s fared better in the higher division and finished fifth with 12 wins, four losses and two draws.
The Sapphire Coast Netball Association had three teams competing.
The under 14s amassed an impressive record during the competition to claim third spot, while the other two teams both finished in the top 15.
The under 14s scored 15 wins to just four losses over three days of games.
The under 13s finished 13th and the under 15s came 15th out of the best teams from across the state.
