Letter: Quality not quantity

The coming council elections are already creating great debate and one of the most interesting points people seem concerned about is the number of candidates.

Well, it shouldn’t matter if there are a thousand, just be aware of the right ones.

When it came to the federal election I constantly heard comments such as “how could you vote for a bloke who wears budgie smugglers” and “we need a woman in power”, which were sad indictments of the voting public and showed a great lack of understanding of the politics that surround them.

What about their actual policies?

So when it comes to the local elections I suggest people take more of an interest in their future and the future of this shire and have a good look at the candidates and what they actually stand for instead of jumping up and down and waving the flag later on when it’s too late.

It’s obvious that the broom needs to be put through council to remove all the dead wood.

The bright light that has appeared is the team of John Clout, Liz Innes and Tubby Harrison.

These people all have great vision for this shire and where it should be heading.

Take a much closer look, people, because it does matter.

Pete Ward, Moruya
