High seas on Easter Sunday prevented off shore anglers from heading out during the Rae Kennedy Memorial Competition.
The door was then left ajar for the rock, beach and estuary divisions to fight for the main prize.
Rae’s son Tony Kennedy presented the best fish during the competition with a 5.2kg snapper.
Geoff Brien won the blue water with a morwong and Neville Aurousseau was the runner-up.
Kennedy won the senior RBE section with his snapper and finished ahead of Jeremy Abbott, who also caught a snapper and Nathan Wolhouter with a salmon.
Kyle Jenkins won the junior section, reeling in a salmon, while Alex Tong was the runner-up with a flathead.
Anthea Hasler finished third with a commendable bream.
Game fish, nanniguai, tailor, and morwong were drawn from the bag but only the morwong and the tailor qualified for a prize.
The mystery weight was 800 grams and this went to Nick Butler who caught a flathead.
On patrons day the first place prize went to Paul Wright with a 2.98kg snapper.
Trevor Brown came second with a 2.89kg snapper and Craig Hasler was third with a 1.27kg salmon.
The weather at times can be the undoing of blue water anglers, however, in some ways it can be beneficial to those that are shore-bound anglers.
I must say, seldom do we see a competition that is a total wipe out and there is always an angler around that will take advantage of the situation.
The next competition is this Sunday.
So until the next competition, keep those rods held high and those lines tight.
