Police have charged a motorcyclist following two pursuits in the vicinity of Brown Mountain near Bega on Saturday.

About 5.50pm, officers patrolling the Monaro Highway at Nimmitabel observed a Suzuki motorcycle travelling east at approximately 140km/h in a 100km/h zone.
Police initiated a pursuit, which was terminated for safety reasons near Brown Mountain.
About an hour later, officers sighted the motorcycle travelling down Brown Mountain near Bemboka and initiated a second pursuit.
The motorcycle was detected travelling on the Snowy Mountains Highway at an alleged speed of 164km/h in a 100km/h zone.
The 22-year-old male rider was stopped and subjected to a roadside breath test, which returned a negative result.
The man, from Denhams Beach, was arrested and taken to Bega Police Station, where he was charged with:
- Police pursuit – not stop – Skye’s Law (x1)
- Speed dangerously (x1)
- Exceed speed over 45km/h (x2)
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Bega Local Court on Tuesday, May 13, 2014.
