The nationwide event encourages Australians to gather in capital cities and regional towns to make it clear that the majority of Australians want stronger action on climate change.
Eurobodalla Shire councillor Gabi Harding and resident Dawne Usher organised the Moruya event and hope to see a big turnout on the day.
Community members of the Eurobodalla Shire will gather in Rotary Park at 10.30am, near the pond, next to the Moruya Hospital and march along the river to Russ Martin Park. Participants are expected to wear red, yellow or orange to promote the effects of climate change.
“People can either join us at the Rotary Park and participate in the walk or meet us at Russ Martin Park, where we will have lunch and allow people to have their say on the effects of climate change,” Mrs Usher said.
“The day isn’t just about making a difference it is also to inform people of how small the contribution is they can make to help. I believe from little things, big things grow.”
There will be a speaker’s corner for people to have the chance to say what they think about climate change.
“We thought by having a speaker’s corner it would allow people to feel empowered and have a chance to voice their opinions to make a difference,” Cr Harding said.
“We need to do everything we can, as you know one drop can make the glass spill-over.”
Residents will enjoy a BYO lunch in the park where council barbecues are available for free.
Everyone is welcome to attend and join like-minded people talk about the effects of climate change.
