HAT-TRICK HERO: Matt O’Neill’s hat-trick helped Clyde United get straight back to winning ways against Broulee.
NAROOMA replaced Broulee in the Eurobodalla Football All Age men’s top four on Sunday after a thrilling 5-3 win over Moruya at Dalmeny Oval.
The result was a timely one for the boys in red, as they surged into semi-final contention with just two rounds to play.
Moruya took the lead on 10 minutes when striker Roy Booker curled in a superb effort from 25 metres.
However, the hosts hit right back in sensational fashion to lead 3-1 midway through the first half.
With midfield anchor Brian Jamba pulling the strings, Narooma looked a formidable unit at times and two more goals after the break were enough to put it in pole position for the fourth finals spot.
Earlier in the day, minor premier Clyde United got straight back to winning ways after its only defeat of the season with a 4-nil victory over Broulee.
A hat-trick inside the first 30 minutes from Matt O’Neill took the wind out of Broulee’s sails before Jack Rixon made it two goals in as many weeks just before the break.
Nathan Vogel found the back of the net in the second half for United, but he was adjudged to be offside when he collected Rixon’s pass.
O’Neill opened the scores on 11 minutes when he climbed highest to meet Neil Mackay’s cross with the head.
He then made it two headed goals nine minutes later before completing his treble with a low drive from 20 metres.
In the other men’s game, Bodalla continued its late season surge with a 16-nil demolition of Batemans Bay FC.
Bay FC started the match desperately short staffed, and things only got worse for the bottom placed team when it had a man sent off.
