Roadworks on Beach Road will temporarily resume after water seepage under the surface caused a small section of the road to sink.
The installation of a narrow median strip to prevent drivers turning right into driveways near the roundabout intersection with Bavarde Avenue was completed, but engineers identified a section of road on the north-west side of the roadwork that had slightly subsided.
“It has been subject to various tests and it has been found to have a bit of moisture,” Eurobodalla Shire Council infrastructure services director Warren Sharpe said.
“It is a relatively small area, and nothing that can’t be fixed.
“In the overall scheme of the job, it is pretty minor.”
Mr Sharpe said that motorists would see the benefit of the median strip, despite criticism of it in some sections of the community.
“That section of Beach Road is getting busier and busier, and the median strip will prevent accidents,” he said.
“It will improve the flow of traffic and increase the amount of traffic that can use it.
“There will be significant benefits for the community.”
