The work has cut the busy Kings Highway for three days each week for the past four weeks, forcing motorists needing access to Canberra for medical appointments, work and other purposes to take long detours.
The road was scheduled to close again today, Tuesday, but the Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) is advising motorists slope stabilisation work on the Kings Highway has been suspended due to localised flooding on the detour route.
Planned closures for today on the Kings Highway will not take place.
Palarang Council has advised Nerriga Road is closed between Braidwood and Nerriga due to flooding.
RMS will reassess and advise as soon as possible if work will continue tomorrow.
The Kings Highway has been periodically closed over the past month for essential roadworks, which were scheduled for completion at the end of the week.
However RMS spokesperson Marnie Procter has confirmed it’s possible this week’s events will extend the work. She says any closures needed will be carried out after the school holidays. RMS will advise the community if this occurs.
“Apparently, there was a small slip outside the project area near Pooh Corner about 8pm last night which closed one lane for a couple of hours,” Ms Procter said.
“It was removed by Eurobodalla Council. Traffic was able to pass the site during work to remove debris.”
