Rachelle death: man charged with murder

A man extradited from Queensland over the death of Rachelle Yeo on the northern beaches will appear in a Sydney court today after being charged with murder.

Paul Darren Mulvihill, 44, of Surfers Paradise, returned to Sydney from Brisbane about 7.35pm yesterday and was taken to the Sydney Police Centre to be charged. He was refused bail to appear at Central Local Court today.

Ms Yeo, 31, was found with "critical injuries" in a Pitt Road unit in North Curl Curl after officers forced their way in about 9.30pm on Monday. She died despite paramedics efforts to save her, police said.

On Tuesday, police arrested Mr Mulvihill as he stepped off a flight from Newcastle at Brisbane Airport, and seized a car at Newcastle Airport for examination.

Mr Mulvihill faced Brisbane Magistrates Court yesterday afternoon, where a magistrate granted an extradition request by the NSW Police.
