Council’s quarterly budget review for up to last December was put to last week’s finance and services committee meeting.
Cr Peter Schwarz questioned why the Bunnings development had been removed from the budget.
He said the previous general manager, Paul Anderson, had suggested before he left that there were other companies interested in the Surf Beach site.
“Are any sales from other parts of the Surf Beach site budgeted for this site?” he asked.
Finance and governance divisional manager Anthony O’Reilly said he was told the land sale would not be proceeding and was asked to take it out of the accounts.
General manager Rob Noble said he hadn’t been briefed on the matter but he said, after that occurred, he would report back to council.
Cr Rob Pollock also suggested councillors discuss the future of the site and what to do to make it more attractive when they met as a group.
