Moruya police say there has been no official report of a shooting in the town this week.
Social media sites have been buzzing with talk of a teen being shot in Moruya on Tuesday night.
Police say the sites are full of gossip and innuendo and can be very misleading but they are making inquiries into the boy's welfare based on those reports.
They are currently in the process of trying to contact the boy.
