BODALLA warmed up for this weekend’s grudge match against fierce rival Clyde United with a 7-1 thrashing of neighbours Moruya on Sunday.
Jordy Roberts and Canberra-based striker Jordy Hay each scored doubles at Gundary Oval as last season’s All Age men’s runners-up continued their fine mid-season form.
Simon French put one on his highlights reel when he sent a 20-metre bullet into the top corner in the 40th minute.
That strike set up a 4-nil first-half lead for Bodalla but it could’ve been more as the referee blew for half-time just moments after awarding a spot kick.
Moruya did get one back when the impressive Will Davis converted from the penalty spot. However Bodalla’s dominance was never in doubt.
“We played really well and we probably had our strongest team all year,” Bodalla goalkeeper Steve Benic said.
“We should’ve been way ahead and we could’ve won 15-nil.
“But Simon’s goal was a cracker and it’s a wonder Jordy Hay didn’t end up playing for the Socceroos, he’s got the perfect touch.”
At Surfside, a lethargic Clyde United outfit needed second half strikes from Nathan Vogel and Paul Jenner to secure a 5-nil win against Bay FC.
Meanwhile, Narooma scored a major upset in the All Age ladies with a 2-1 win over runaway leader Clyde United.
Moruya narrowed the gap at the top of the table to nine points with a 3-1 victory over defending champion Broulee.
