“Fibre construction to connect homes to the National Broadband network will begin at Braemar Homestead in Moruya and Reflections Barlings Beach at Tomakin by the end of April,” the spokeman said
“At the same time, work will begin to connect the first of almost 15,000 homes and businesses in Queanbeyan.”
Broadband, Communications and Digital Economy Minister Senator Stephen Conroy visited Bungendore on Wednesday to announce that all Australians will have access to faster speeds on the National Broadband Network than are now available.
Mr Kelly’s spokesman said that the government would be announcing the order in which parts of the electorate would receive broadband at the end of March.
“This will be determined by NBN Co (the company conducting the rollout) and it will be based on engineering considerations,” he said.
The spokesman said that the wireless component of the NBN would be complete by 2015 and that the entire country would be covered by 2020.
“For Batemans Bay and Moruya, it will be much earlier than that because they are on the highway,” he said.
