Cool relief on the way

The mercury is set to top at a toasty 37 degrees in the Eurobodalla today, but relief is on the way, and it isn’t expected to get any hotter than 21 degrees tomorrow.

Rain is expected today and a thunderstorm is possible today and for each of the next five days.

A total fire ban is in force.

Temperatures will steadily climb again next week, reaching 31 degrees on Tuesday, before dropping to 24 degrees the following day.

The average maximum temperature for January so far is 26.9, 1.2 degree higher than the long-term average, but the average minimum of 15 degrees is 0.6 colder than the long-term average.

In terms of rainfall this month, we are well behind this time last year with just 5.3mm, most of it falling on Monday, as opposed to 20.3mm last year, so tomorrow’s rain will be welcome.

The fire danger in the Eurobodalla is currently rated as severe.

Despite some of the infernal temperatures Eurobodalla residents have experienced lately, Essential Energy says that the demand for power in the area is nothing out of the ordinary.

“We haven’t experienced any unusual levels of energy demand over recent days down in the Eurobodalla,” an Essential Energy spokeswoman said.
